Short Term Disability
We all count on a regular paycheck. After all, the mortgage or rent comes due each month. And utilities, day care and other expenses don't go away — even if you get sick and can't work.
That's the beauty of a Short Term Disability (STD) plan from Companion Life. If you get sick or hurt and can't go to work, you can still draw an income — to pay your bills and put food on your table.
Companion Life's STD plans are available to small employer groups without the requirement of any other coverage. Our STD plans replace 60% of an employee's weekly earnings, up to a maximum benefit of $600 per week.
Benefits begin on the first day of a disability if it is the result of an accident. Benefits start on the eighth day of a disability due to an illness. Benefits continue for either 13 or 26 weeks, depending on the plan the employer chooses. If the illness or injury recurs less than 30 consecutive days after the employee returns to active full-time work, it is not necessary to begin a new benefit period. Our STD plans pay benefits only for disabilities resulting from non-occupational accidents or illnesses.
Maternity Benefit
Companion Life's STD plans even cover maternity as we would an illness. Benefits begin on the eighth day of disability.
